Small Islands and Development States (SIDS)

 

This research project focus on the sociological study of human interaction and cultural heritage in urban and rural areas in Small Islands and Development States (SIDS).

A significant part of this research revolves around the concept of architectural sociology and the importance of the island configuration, as well as vernacular vs. modern architecture in reshaping human behaviors, domestic habits and even identities among local communities.

This project also points out in the direction of a deeper investigation of how innovations in urban planning, architecture, technology, design, and policy, aligned or even built on traditional and indigenous knowledge and skills , support in facing the challenges and meeting the needs of the local communities living in SIDS.
